The Department of Tamil at Salem Kongunadu Arts and Science College has been a cornerstone of linguistic and cultural excellence since its inception. About the Course
The Master of Arts in Tamil (M.A. Tamil) is a two-year postgraduate programme that provides advanced study in Tamil literature, grammar, and linguistics. The course explores various forms of Tamil writing — from Sangam poetry and epics to modern short stories, novels, and literary criticism.
This programme is designed to deepen students’ appreciation for Tamil heritage while equipping them with research and analytical skills required for academic and professional excellence. It also enables learners to engage with comparative literature and cultural studies, expanding their understanding of world literary traditions through a Tamil lens.
