About the Course
The Bachelor of Arts in Tamil (B.A. Tamil) is a three-year undergraduate programme that offers an in-depth study of Tamil language, literature, grammar, and history. The course is designed to enhance linguistic proficiency, analytical skills, and cultural knowledge. Students learn about Sangam literature, Bhakti movement works, modern prose, and comparative studies of world literature.
The programme also integrates language structure, translation techniques, and media communication, enabling students to apply Tamil knowledge in modern contexts such as journalism, digital content, and creative writing.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Tamil should preferably be one of the subjects studied at the higher secondary level.
- Admissions are based on Periyar University and Government of Tamil Nadu norms.
