The Department of English at Salem Kongunadu Arts and Science College has long been recognized as a center for literary excellence, critical inquiry, and creative expression. About the Course
The Master of Arts in English (M.A. English) is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to provide in-depth knowledge of English literature, language, and criticism. It covers literary movements across British, American, Indian, and Postcolonial traditions, while also exploring the evolution of literary thought, aesthetics, and communication theory.
The programme equips students with advanced analytical and interpretative skills, enhancing their ability to engage with literary texts, conduct academic research, and pursue creative writing. It also develops essential communication and teaching competencies suitable for academia, publishing, and corporate sectors.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have a B.A. Degree in English or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- Admission will be made as per Periyar University and Government of Tamil Nadu norms.
