The department of english was sprouted in the year 2008 and was upgraded with M.A literature in 2014. The department comprises well motivated team of 7 assistant professors rendering selfless service under the guidance of the head of the dept Mrs. D. Abirameshwari and it is one of the major dept fulfilling the requisites of the students. The department is well equipped to offer different programs . It has a proud tradition of highest percentage of passes and members of staff strives to motivate the slow learners of english from rural areas. The need based programmes are provided with academic environment for the enrichment of students to excel in higher education and Job market around the globe. The department has fostered and nurtured the spirit of their desire over the years enlarging their scope in all the areas.The department focuses not only on the curriculum but also brings out their creativity, helps them to overcome stage fear and develop leadership qualities by organising functions in the department. This department has seen many epoch making National and international conferences in various disciplines. We also equip our students to face the present day world by imparting perfect academic, cultural and moral principles. Graduates freshers from the designation of BA English literature have scope for the below mentioned designations:
English Teacher in a private school English Translator, Call Centre Executive, Business Process Outsourcing, Customer Service Manager, Content Writers, Content Writer, Ournalist/Reporter, Copywriter, Writer/Sub-Editor and teacher in a private school

Scope for higher studies

After completing B.A english literature the students can study B.Ed., M.A English, M.A Journalism and mass communication, M.A Linguistics, MBA, civil services etc., After completing M.A English literature the students can choose to study M.Phil., (English literature, Creative writing, Language and literature, linguistics, comparative literature and translation literature) Ph.D and students can also appear for UGC - NET and SLET/SET exams in english literature.
